Boxing

Experience and learn the basics of one of the toughest sports around. This class is designed to offer conditioning and basic boxing skills. It is an exciting cardio workout with optional contact sparring. Students must be at least 15 years old. Workouts include:

Conditioning – structured warm up with stretching similar to martial arts training.

  • warm up

Basic Skills

  • learn and improve stances
  • focus on punches and combinations

Drills – working with a partner step through conditioning and power drills. Partners will serve as coaches and motivators for one another.

  • combine punches and footwork
  • 3 minute rounds with focus mitts or medicine ball

Sparring (body contact optional) – contact sparring will be limited to the body only. Those not participating in contact sparring will continue drills, do shadow boxing, or skip rope to continue conditioning routine. 

  • 3 rounds of 3 minutes
  • shadow box or skip rope

 

Home Stretch Drills – the final drive to dig down and push yourself harder.

  • abdominal conditioning 
  • quick drills

 

Equipment

Class attire will be regular athletic clothes such as shorts or warm ups. Students will need to purchase the following protective gear.

  1. Rev Gear 16oz gloves
  2. 180cm hand wraps (Hand wraps how to guide)
  3. jump rope (plastic, wire or leather)

Agreement for Participation in Boxing Program - This form needs to be printed and signed by the student or their legal guardian and returned to class prior to starting classes.
